Logo Celanese

Celanese Emulsions was founded in 2003 following Celanese’s acquisition of Clariant’s European emulsions and global emulsion powder businesses, both of which were previously part of Hoechst AG. With the acquisition of ICI’s Vinamul Polymers business in 2005, Celanese Emulsions is now a leading global supplier of polymer emulsions with a broad product portfolio covering most monomer systems and unique expertise in vinyl-based emulsions. In line with its strategy of focusing on core businesses with leading market positions, Celanese sold its emulsion powder business to National Starch and Chemical Company (NSC) and Elotex AG in the summer of 2005.

Celanese Emulsions is known in the industry for its innovation potential and strong focus on high-performance, environmentally friendly solutions, and is a preferred partner for emulsion users in all of the markets we serve, including paints and coatings, adhesives, nonwovens, glass fibres, textiles, paper and construction.

Our products include pressure polymers such as vinyl acetate/ethylene (VAE) emulsions and conventional emulsions such as vinyl acetate homopolymers, vinyl acetate copolymers, acrylic copolymers and styrene/acrylic copolymers. They are sold under globally and regionally recognised brands such as Mowilith®, Vinamul®, Celvolit®, Dur-O-Set®, Vinacryl®, Resyn® and Sensitac®.

On 5 February 2005, Celanese acquired all shares in Vinamul Polymers. Vinamul Polymers’ business in North America and Europe was fully integrated into Celanese’s emulsion business.
