RC2

RC2 C.V. is a 50/50 joint venture between ARG mbH & Co. KG and Havenbedrijf Rotterdam N.V. (HbR). HbR is the operator and development company of the Port of Rotterdam and the industry in the Rotterdam area.

HbR is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Municipality of Rotterdam. RC2 operates a pipeline system on a common carrier basis for the transport of ethylene between Antwerp and Rotterdam, the two largest port and industrial complexes in Europe. ‘Common carrier’ means that any potential ethylene consumer and any potential ethylene producer can have ethylene transported within the existing pipeline capacity, with general transport conditions applying at published tariffs for standardised ethylene quality.

Pipeline route:
The total length of the RC2 Common Carrier pipeline is 117 km between Rotterdam and Antwerp. The pipeline is partly owned by RC2 and partly leased on a long-term basis. The owned section is a 10-inch diameter pipeline, completed in 2003, between Maasvlaakte, Europoort and Botlek in the port and industrial area of Rotterdam. In Botlek, the RC2 pipeline connects to a Shell pipeline, from which RC2 has leased capacity for the section between Botlek via Pernis and Moerdijk to Antwerp. RC2 operates its own and leased transport system on a commercial basis.
